The stimulus bill, which now heads to the White House for the president's signature, has good news for Amtrak and passenger rail supporters:

From the Washington Post:
“In a victory for rail advocates, the bill includes $9.3 billion to develop high-speed trains and to improve Amtrak.”

Sen. Susan Collins had an encouraging quote: “We were able to increase the amount of infrastructure spending,” which she called “the most powerful component in this bill to create jobs.” She said the bill contains about $150 billion for infrastructure including transportation, environmental, broadband and other projects.
