The AP filed a story that is bouncing around the world, from Malaysia to Miami to Portland. It's great to see our passenger train service garner worldwide attention.

The headline reads: "Amtrak's Downeaster hopes to tap stimulus money."

In the article, Chairman Wayne Davis of TrainRiders/Northeast, praises the Obama administration for being the first in many years to say "passenger rail" out loud.

Let's celebrate. The federal stimulus money has been approved! Now, let's get Washington to pass the money along.

You're right about the AP cutting both ways. I see so many "killed at the crossing" stories, that I am delighted when they chose to write a story about expansion.

Cuts both ways! When the stories about the subsidies per passenger were going around, it was AP that fed the flames!

This is amazing how the AP works...I'm looking at their newsfeed and the same story is in Malaysia, San Francisco, New York, Bangor, etc.
